About Global Garage

We are part of the global economy. Yet, so often we are far removed from people who make up the real stories behind our global economy.

Global Garage’s mission, via its affiliation with Global Garage Foundation, a Colorado non-profit corporation, is to benefit both the local community and the broader global community so that the result of our connectedness is a system that directly supports one another.

For example, Global Garage supports artisans abroad by purchasing handicrafts, textiles, furniture and jewelry directly from the families who rely on external support to maintain their unique and vibrant cultures and mores.

We import jewelry, textiles, handicraft and carvings directly from our artisans in Indonesia. We import wooden home furnishings from Mexico. We support families in Guatamala by providing a marketplace for their beaded and terra cotta goods.

We travel the world seeking treasures for the store, yet with a clear sense of fair trade principles.

Moreover, we seek to provide a trading spot for our local artisans. Local artisans provide handcrafted soaps, household furnishings, jewelry and more.

Global Garage Foundation makes available to these artisans, and other communities, business development grants and business development guidance to ensure continued economic sustenance.

Global Garage also seeks to boost the local tax revenue base via selling its goods from its base camp in Buena Vista, as well as providing reasonable prices to locals with our automatic discount pricing system.

We encourage our “recycle, re-use, re-purpose” philosophy as awareness of our nation’ excessive carbon footprint increases. It is a delicate balance to exist as a business while also seeking to remain a respectful citizen of the global economy; however, with your support, together we can do the things we normally do and yet affect lives and the overall environment in a positive manner. We are a global economy, and we seek to be a global company… right here in Buena Vista!
